Your right to privacy is very important. We recognize that when you choose to provide us with information about yourself, you trust us to act in a responsible manner. We believe this information should only be used to help us provide you with better service. That’s why we have put a policy in place to protect your personal information. Below is a summary of our policy.
The TCG welcomes comments and questions on this policy. We are dedicated to protecting your personal information and will make every reasonable effort to keep that information secure. Due to the rapidly evolving technologies on the Internet, we may occasionally update this policy. All revisions will be posted to this site. Questions regarding this statement should be directed to admin@trustedcomputinggroup.org.
In general, when you visit our Web site and access information you remain anonymous. Before we ask you for information, we will explain how this information will be used. We will not provide any of your personal information to other companies or individuals without your permission.
Our site requires registration to access member areas, although typically all that is requested is your name, an e-mail address and some basic information about you, such as your job function.
There are occasions when we will ask for additional information. We do this to be able to better understand your needs and provide you with services that we believe may be valuable to you. Some examples of additional information the Web site may collect are name, address and phone number. We give you the opportunity to elect not to receive information from us regarding upcoming events and other news.
We also collect information from you when you request membership documents or contact us through our Contact Us page. We will collect your name and email address in order to follow up on your requests. You may also opt-in to receive updates regarding press releases and events. All we require is your email address and we will send you an email to confirm your subscription.
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and the number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. IP addresses are tied to personally identifiable information to enable our Web-based service.
We will take appropriate steps to protect your privacy. We will take reasonable security measures to protect your personal information in storage.
When you submit personal information, that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry – Secure Socket Layer. While on a secure page, such as our account sign up page, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked as opposed to un-locked.
We also use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure once we receive it. For example, we store the personal information you provide on limited access computer systems that are located in secured facilities. Trusted Computing Group’s employees are trained and kept up-to-date on our security procedures. If you have any questions about the security at our Web site, you can send an email to admin@trustedcomputinggroup.org.
We will not provide any of your personal information to other companies or individuals without your permission. However, we may need to provide your name and delivery address to third parties that TCG uses for the purposes of delivering specific services to you (e.g., customer support or a shipping company if you have asked us to send something to you.)
Our Web sites may provide links to third party sites. Since we do not control those Web sites, we encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third party sites.
You can help the TCG maintain the accuracy of your information by notifying the TCG of any changes to your address, title, phone number or email address. Members may do this online or by e-mailing admin@trustedcomputinggroup.org.
To manage contact information and opt-in features, members may log into the secure members only area and select “My Account.” Members may change and/or remove their contact information from the TCG database at any time in this area. Members may choose to unsubscribe from the TCG member mailing list and/or not have their contact information displayed publicly to the membership also.
At any time a user may opt-out of receiving event updates, press release announcements, and other information and updates from the TCG by sending an email request to admin@trustedcomputinggroup.org. Email correspondence from the TCG to the membership includes instructions for unsubscribing also.
Members of the TCG are able to view other members personal profile information. Because this information is displayed to other TCG members, the TCG has no control over unauthorized use of this information. TCG members can hide their personal information from other TCG members by selecting to have their information unavailable for public use in their user profile.
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our Web site.
The TCG Web site may use cookies for various reasons. Cookies enable us to provide you with a better experience by allowing us to understand what areas of the Web site are of interest to our visitors. These cookies do not track individual information. If you choose to disable cookies in your browser, you can still access most of the Web site.
The information that is collected on this Web site will be stored and processed on databases in the United States.
If we change our privacy policy, we will post a notice of the change on our homepage, so you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify you via email or by posting a prominent notice on our Web site 30 days prior to implementing the change. You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner.
