Trusted Computing Group Recognizes Members for Leadership and Service to Trusted Computing and Cybersecurity

PORTLAND, Ore., Oct.25, 2016 – Trusted Computing Group has honored nine of its member company representatives for their leadership, service and contributions to the development and adoption of global industry standards used to secure data, networks and devices.

Winners of TCG’s distinguished service and leadership awards were nominated by TCG’s board of directors, recognizing significant contributions of leadership, technical expertise and the ability to work across the organization to drive specification development and adoption.

Steve Hanna, senior principal, Infineon Technologies and Dave Wooten, partner architect, Microsoft Corporation, have received distinguished service awards.

Hanna currently chairs the Embedded Systems Work Group and Internet of Things subgroup and previously chaired the Trusted Network Communications work group. He has also participated as a board member and on the technical committee and chaired the compliance and certification committee; he also was active in the development of several new work groups and liaised between TCG and other standards groups, including IEEE-IETF, for standards development efforts.

Wooten currently is the TPM work group co-chair, where he has helped drive the development of the TPM 2.0 Library Specification and its adoption as an ISO standard. He has served on the technical committee and as chair of several subgroups related to the TPM specifications. He also has worked across many other TCG work groups to collaborate around use cases and adoption of the TPM specifications.

Tom Laffey, ‪Sr. Platform Security Architect at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Networking, has received the leadership award. Laffey is co-chair of the Network Equipment Work Group and recently became co-chair of the Infrastructure WG. He has actively worked to integrate key aspects of TCG specs with complementary specifications for secure device identities (DevIDs), SNMP, and SWID Tags.

TCG members have awarded the following for their contributions to TCG’s specifications and their adoption worldwide:

  • Carlin Covey, NXP Semiconductors, chairs TCG’s Trusted Mobility Solutions Work Group and participates actively in the Mobile Platform Work Group. He liaises to a number of complementary industry standards and similar organizations for TCG.
  • Ken Goldman, IBM, is a contributing member to the TPM, Trusted Solutions Stack, Virtualization, and PC Client Work Groups. He co-authored “A Practical Guide to TPM 2.0” and has edited many specifications.
  • Kathleen McGill, Johns Hopkins University, co-chairs the Mobile Platforms Work Group, which has published a number of specifications and reference materials to enable more secure mobile devices.
  • Jun Takei, Intel, helped drive and launch the Japan Regional Forum, which advocates for the use of trusted computing in the region. The forum holds an annual workshop and hosts permanent demonstrations with member solutions for enterprise and Internet of Things security.
  • Michael Willett, Bright Plaza, Inc., currently works to encourage the use of self-encrypting drives (SEDs) in client, enterprise and IoT devices and systems. He previously co-chaired the TCG Storage Work Group and was instrumental to the specification development; he also has worked on SED compliance and certification programs.
  • Lee Wilson, Security Innovation, is chairman of the Trusted Software Stack and Virtualized Platform work groups. He has overseen publication of the virtualized platforms architecture specification.

Trusted Computing Group announced that its TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) Library Specification was approved as a formal international standard under ISO/IEC (the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission).
