As part of its ongoing webcast series, Trusted Computing Group and members will host a session Tuesday, Sept. 20, 9:00 a.m. Pacific/12:00 p.m. to address how to secure the IoT with strong device identity and techniques to securing IoT endpoints and the role of trust and the TPM.

Lancen LaChance of GlobalSign will look at authentication, privacy and integrity and securing trust credentials, using cloud-based PKI (public key infrastructure) services and the TPM. Key technologies will be explained and attendees will learn to provision IoT, including certification enrollment, which then helps secure operations on the TPM. LaChance will then discuss porting this technology across a range of use cases and devices. He also will look at using the secure credentials to authenticate using an embedded web server and client browser and how that can be scaled into various models.

The second half of the webcast features Cisco’s Stacy Cannady, who will discuss securing a sample deployment of IoT sensors and actuators, such as those found in a smart building, managed by a cloud-based application with connection over a public internet. Cannady will address how the TPM is used to protect credentials and extend OpenSSL authentication requiring both certificates and integrity report. The use of TCG’s network security architecture, TNC, is discussed to validate the credentials
